Airports Using AI to Transform Air Travel by 2050

BARCELONA – A report announced Wednesday from the global management think tank Oliver Wyman Forum, titled The Evolution of Airports: A Path Toward 2050, outlines a plan to revolutionize air travel. A key aspect of the plan is to use artificial intelligence (AI) and 3D printing to enhance the efficiency of airport operations.

According to the report, “Advances in biometrics, AI, machine learning, 3D printing, and automation will disrupt traditional airport operating models and transform the customer experience while also enhancing efficiency.” The publication points out that 45% of passengers already support using AI to facilitate digital identity verification and “drop paper passports.”

The report’s comprehensive analysis and recommendations are meant to foster a sustainable and resilient future for the aviation sector. With these efforts, the industry is poised to make significant progress in combating climate change and creating a greener future for air travel.
