ChatGPT-Powered Robot Officiates Colorado Couple’s Wedding
MORRISON, CO – A Colorado couple, Reese Alyson Wiench and Deyton Truitt, turned to artificial intelligence (AI) to officiate their wedding over the weekend. The couple wanted to get married quickly as Truitt, who serves in the Army, will be deployed soon. With the assistance of ChatGPT, the wedding was pulled off without having to schedule a human officiant.
The popular AI platform was used to meticulously craft a speech to lead the ceremony. The Longmont Leader quoted Truitt as saying, “I didn’t want to curate what an officiant said […] I programmed [ChatGPT.] I know it’s trustworthy.”
An audio speaker made to look like a robot was set up between the bride and groom. “As the AI officiant for Reese Alyson Wiench and Deyton Truitt’s wedding, I will focus on celebrating their unique journey of love and unity, highlighting the remarkable merging of human connection and technological innovation,” the robot said.
The state of Colorado does not require an officiant to oversee a wedding, only that both parties be in agreement. However, Wiench’s father did sign the marriage license. The couple's marriage ceremony showcased the growing influence of AI in real life events.
