ChatGPT’s New Competition, xAI – Musk’s AI Startup

San Francisco, CA – Today, Musk debuted his new xAI team, composed of 11 other experts in the field with experienced backgrounds working at DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and the University of Toronto. As disclosed on its website, xAI aims to “understand the true nature of the universe” and will “work closely with X (Twitter), Tesla, and other companies” to achieve its reality-understanding goals.

Musk, one of the co-founders of OpenAi, has previously voiced his concerns surrounding AI safety. Musk, along with other tech leaders, had requested Google, Microsoft, and other tech giants to take a 6-months pause in their AI training and development in an open letter. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Musk warns against how the power of AI may potentially lead to “civilization destruction” and revealed that he is planning to create a “TruthGPT” to compete against Google and Microsoft.
