Google announced the unveiling of thei new generative AI tools for Perfomrance Max (PMax), an AI-driven marketing campaign that pulls ads across all of google’s platforms including Search, YouTube, Display, Gmail, Maps, and more. The new generative AI tools will provide marketers with new abilities that include creating new headlines, descriptions, and banners that fit PMax requirements. New features also allow marketers to create and edit hero images so that products can fit certain seasons and trends more accurately.

The new generative AI tools for PMax are still in beta, being tested by select marketers and organizations for optimization. A full rollout to all customers is planned to occur through 2024, giving every marketing agency based on Google the ability to maximize their strategies and growth campaigns.

Safeguards are also being implemented to protect consumers from misuse of AI. Google states that invisible watermarks will be applied using SynthID, creating transparent metadata that states whether the PMax content is aI generated or not. In doing so, Google can ensure that PMax users are adhering to policy guidelines and avoiding prompts that violate policy guidelines.
