The UK government recently made a £2 million investment into Oak National Academy, a research center focused on developing tools and materials for teachers across the United Kingdom to use for free. The investment is meant to spur the development of AI-based tools that teachers can use to draft learning materials in a fraction of the time that it originally took them to create, providing teachers with more time to focus on their student’s needs and avoid being overworked and boosting education. 

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said in the announcement that “AI has extraordinary potential to reform our education system for the better, with considerable value for both teachers and students” which can lead new generations towards greater understanding of upcoming technology and how to correctly implement it into future businesses and societies. 30,000 teachers across the country have already begun using tools developed by the Oak National Academy and new advancements in AI is expected to increase that number further.
