A16z Is Taking Crypto To The UK

A16z announced they are opening a new location for their crypto school in London. The venture Captial firm said in a statement that they recognize the UK’s interest in web3 citing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak support of blockchain technologies.

According to a16z’s own general council, the prosperity of web3 can only occur if networks developed by blockchain engineers are truly decentralized. There is no belief that a proper web3 can sustain itself if it were to be centralized and the executive team at a16z sees the UK’s attempts at creating decentralized infrastructure for blockchains as a signal for establishing further investment in the country.

The announcement comes when more web3 businesses are looking to Dubai as the preferred web3 hub because of poor policies surrounding cryptocurrency in the United States. Mixed messages from the SEC are causing turmoil for web3 businesses in the US and a16z interest in the Uk is a solid counterpoint to trends pointing towards the UAE.
