Do Kwon Formally Charged, Faces Extradition

PODGORICA, ME – Do Kwon was formally charged in a Montenegrin court Friday after being arrested at the Podgorica airport yesterday.

South Korea sent officials to Montenegro on Friday to press for extradition. The U.S. has filed 8 charges against Kwon including securities fraud and wire fraud and will seek extradition as well.

Kwon was en route to Dubai, when authorities found forged travel documents from Costa Rica. An inspection by Interpol revealed other falsified documents from Belgium and South Korea. Kwon has said that the documents are legitimate and has requested a formal review.

Kwon has been evading authorities since the collapse of his TerraLUNA cryptocurrency last May which sent shockwaves through the crypto markets.
