Do Kwon to Remain in Detention as Bail Revoked

PODGORICA, ME – Do Kwon will continue to be detained in Montenegro as he faces charges of falsifying travel documents. A court statement released Thursday revealed that the request for bail, which was initially approved, had been revoked

On May 17, Kwon agreed to pay a €400,000 bond for his release, but no evidence of the cash value was presented at the time. The High Court determined that the Basic Court could not accept a statement but needed to acquire concrete evidence.

Following the High Court’s ruling, the Basic Court extended Kwon’s detention and said it would decide on the defense counsel’s proposal for accepting bail.

Kwon and his associate, Han Chang-joon, are slated to appear in court on June 16 for their next hearing.
