Sony Files NFT Framework Patent for Video Games

SAN MATEO, CA – Sony Interactive Entertainment has filed a patent application to explore possible NFT framework enhancements in its video games and consoles.

The patent will allow the company to research how interoperability would function between different games within Sony’s ecosystem. NFTs would be recognized and valid across devices like VR headsets, mobile phones, tablets, desktops, and consoles.

The patent will also explore minting progress within a game, such as levels reached or points accumulated, and transferring or selling that progress to other players.

The company has so far been cautious about integrating NFTs into its video game ecosystem; a full rollout may not occur for some time.
