Leaders in Crypto

On the surface, NFTs and Cryptocurrencies appear to be a space dominated by men. They tend to have the loudest voices on social media platforms. However, as more jobs open up in the blockchain industry more women are showing that they are equally eager and capable of working in crypto. It’s not just art either, women are the backbone to a variety of important positions.

Kathryn Haun

Sitting as General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, Kathryn Huan is a leading figure of women in crypto. Besides being an attorney, she is also the co-chair of a16z’s three crypto funds. More than that, she was also a board member of OpenSea and Coinbase. In fact, the decisions she has made in her career have impacted nearly every popular platform associated with blockchain through her legal and business experience. Without her, the entire crypto environment would look entirely different today.

Kathleen Breitman

Kathleen Breitman, along with her husband, is the founder of the Tezos blockchain. She created the network in 2014 as “a reaction to bitcoin.” Since then, she has gone on to lead Tezos as a successful competitor to Ethereum as a pioneering layer 1 Proof-of-Stake blockchain while the Ethereum 2.0 merger has been delayed again. Due to her early efforts in the crypto space, proof-of-Stake mechanisms offer the single best alternative to unsustainable crypto mining.

Tess Hau

Tess Hau is a venture capitalist with a massive list of investments in blockchain technologies. Due to her position, she is able to take a front row seat as more crypt-based companies emerge. Some stand out investments of hers include platforms on Polkadot, Robinhood, and Kraken, but she also works with many smaller companies in the industry as well including Cryptonite and GenBlock Financial. These services help drive DeFi across the internet, providing new banking access and services to a range of underbanked individuals. She has also invested in DAOs of all kinds such as Paragons, Virtual Alliance DAO, and Wonder. Under her leadership, small blockchain businesses are capable of growing to extreme heights.

Yam

The World of Women NFT collection on OpenSea has become a mega-hit with over 64,000 Eth being exchanged since July 2021. As the founder and lead artist, Yam has grown her humble project into a premiere NFT collection with a 2nd collection coming in 2022. Yam has gone further with her project too by creating a DAO called DaWoW. The DAO allows holders to vote on upcoming projects, providing women with a powerful governing utility.

Cathie Woods

Cathie Woods has been at the forefront of technology during the last decade. Her investments in Tesla and Twitter have yielded incredible returns and blockchain has been no stranger to her either. She has routinely invested in bitcoin, expressing that it is the single most well-structured blockchain available and calling it “the most secure blockchain technology out there.” With routine investments into bitcoin and Coinbase, Cathie Woods is leading ARK with positions in crypto that will be remembered for a long time.

It goes to show that crypto is an inclusive environment where merit and skill speak louder than gender by giving women more opportunities to develop strong careers. Women are taking a positive role in the growth of the blockchain industry. Female lawyers, investors, developers, and artists are all making significant contributions that cannot be ignored.
