Web3 Education: Algorand's New Web3 Initiative
Algorand has announced a new partnership with the Blockchain Acceleration Foundation (BAF), a non-profit for blockchain technology, to help boost education within the web3 industry. Together, the two organizations plan to create clubs around North and South America where students and curious individuals can group together to understand blockchain technology better.
Partnership with BAF
The partnership between Algorand and BAF is focused on closing the gap between students and web3 technology. While blockchains are complex, they are not impossible to understand and Algorand sees a lot of potential in the future by teaching students how to operate in decentralized ecosystems.
According to Algorand’s Student Engagement Lead Evangelina Machado, “The purpose of this partnership is to collaborate with BAF to create and support blockchain student clubs in North America and South America, to accelerate the growth of a worldwide community of blockchain innovators, and to make Algorand more accessible to student developers and builders.”
Algorand’s Web3 Student Course
Along with the partnership, Algorand and BAF have already designed the basic framework for their student courses. Students will have access to a web series that provides web3 content in either English or Spanish which is essential as we see more Spanish-speaking countries like El Salvador moving towards cryptocurrencies more seriously.
Students must also complete a capstone course that guides them through Dapp development. The two organizations will provide students with mentorship and guidance, walking them through the technical aspects of web3. By the end of the course, students will have completed their own Dapp project which they can use to help them find additional work in the growing web3 economy.
Availability in North and South America
Algorand’s interest in North and South America highlights a bigger aspect of web3 - borderless access to financial services. As mentioned many times before, blockchain technology and cryptocurrency have the power to bring economic opportunities to some of the most underserved communities around the world including those in Central and South America where local currencies are more volatile.
Algorand’s desire to bring higher education to South America can bring a slew of new wealth to populations that are determined to create prosperity for themselves and their families while also bringing in new talent to the web3 industry.
Why education is necessary for web3
Education has been at the forefront of web3 lately as many agree that the complex nature of blockchain technology presents a steep learning curve that many people are unwilling to understand. Though the concept of digital money may appear simple to some, the technology behind cryptocurrency, and the coding involved, creates challenges that require a specialized understanding of computer science.
Without advanced courses, the web3 industry will struggle to grow. Fortunately, though, Algorand is not the only blockchain team looking into this matter. We’ve already seen teams from Chainlink and Binance present similar opportunities to help grow the web3 talent pool. With time, these programs will help create a more legitimate investment space as more innovative Dapps become available for users.
