What are Discord NFT Roles?

Discord has become an integral aspect of NFTs and the communities that are necessary to form around them. Many teams use their Discord as a place to verify token ownership and to make the most immediate announcements to their community.

The platform is also a popular place for the community to speak directly to members of the team in casual or professional situations. However, for many that are new to Discord, the experience can become overwhelming with the number of different channels, servers, and conversations all happening in real time.

What is an NFT Discord Server?

Discord is a program that was originally developed to help gamers create communities around some of their favorite games. The idea was to be able to help facilitate groups, teams, and other forms of communication that allowed people to enjoy their games further.

Over time, the platform became more accessible to various communities outside of gaming, including cryptocurrencies and NFTs. This led to people using the platform to host their own NFT discord servers where they could interact with their community of holders more directly.

NFT Discord Team Roles

The team behind a project, and Discord itself, usually have a variety of roles attached to their profiles to help explain their responsibilities to the public members. These roles can be important when seeking certain information because they will help new members identify who can be most helpful in certain situations.

  1. Founder

The founder is the person responsible for creating the team and NFT that is associated with a Discord server. Often, these individuals may hold multiple roles such as mod and alpha caller to further emphasize their presence in the community.

The number of founders can range from a single person to a small group of people depending on the genesis of a team or collection.

While they are the leaders of a project, their actual activity in a Discord server might be limited due to their busy responsibilities of running the project. This includes meeting with other project teams to discuss partnerships, product expansions, and building out the functionalities of an NFT based on the roadmap.

2. Mods

Mods, like most internet forums and chat rooms, are individuals that are responsible for keeping the general discussion in line with the appropriate topics. They make sure that members are friendly and that nothing wildly off-topic is being discussed.

These team members are incredibly important when it comes to protecting the community from scams as well. They are often the ones to inform people when a server or project has been hacked.

3. Alpha Caller

The alpha callers in a Discord server can generally be described as the rockstars of the community. They are the ones most responsible for providing accurate and detailed analysis of projects which are predicted to have a strong rise in value over the short-term or long-term.

These people can offer deep insights into the NFT space and provide excellent explanations of how a market is moving. The most well-researched alpha callers tend to have a wide variety of resources at hand to explain the floor prices of different tokens and what is causing momentum to pick up or die down.

4. Researcher

If an alpha caller is considered the head chef of a restaurant then the researcher would be the line cook.

They are tasked with the responsibility of finding upcoming projects which are worth spending some time learning more about. Often, their role is to generate a list of projects which are sent to the alpha callers for examination.

This way alpha callers can spend the majority of their time looking at current projects while researchers spend the time digging through lists of new projects which are generally filled with clutter.

5. Collab Manager

Collaborations are a huge part of how NFT projects gain exposure. Every NFT team needs to have someone dedicated to networking with other NFT projects to spread awareness.

A collab manager is integral to a team because they are the ones that are reaching out to other teams to establish connections to benefit both teams. These benefits can be alpha mirrors that share the alpha calls from both teams to the communities of each project. There can also be giveaways and whitelistings for upcoming projects to help integrate both communities.

NFT Discord Member Roles

The members of a community are considered the general public and audience for the team. They are the most important aspect of any NFT project and bring everything to life.

There are a variety of different roles that a community member can hold.

  1. Verified Holders

A verified holder is someone who has proven, through a wallet checking application, that they hold the specific token that the Discord server revolves around.

These tokens can come with a variety of features that open up different chat channels to communicate.

These channels can be quite valuable and are often the key feature of most NFTs, especially alpha groups.

2. OG

The OG role is reserved for members who joined Discord at its earliest stages. These members are rewarded with the distinction of OG.

This distinction can come with a small number of additional benefits which generally include immediate whitelisting of different collections associated with the NFT team.

3. Whitelist

The whitelist role can have a variety of different names (such as allowlist) which serves as a notice that an individual member can mint an NFT from the team before the public sale at a reduced price.

These roles are extremely coveted because of their ability to generate profits and usually require some effort to earn.

Known as the “Whitelist Grind,” earning a place on the whitelist requires things like retweeting team announcements, communicating in chat channels often, or providing a server boost to Discord.

4. New Members

New members are the people who immediately join a Discord after becoming verified. They often have limited access to the different channels on Discord.

While this role is the bare minimum given to a member, it still provides people with a glimpse into the community to see if they are willing to join or not.

The BCCN3 Discord

The BCCN3 Discord server aims to become a multimedia platform for all the best NFT and crypto knowledge available on the internet. As it grows, we plan to introduce additional benefits to the server to help provide all the most up-to-date information about crypto markets in a friendly environment where the community comes first.
