Wolfi: A Popular Mascot's Latest Collection on Avax

With so many NFTs being created and exchanged on more popular networks like Ethereum and Solana, it is easy to overlook exciting new projects on other chains such as Tezos and Avalanche.

Recently, a new project on the Avalanche network called Wolfi Land just completed its mint and is now pushing high volume on the network and drawing significant attention to an NFT platform which has been widely overlooked until now.

What is Wolfi

The Wolfi Land collection is a series that uses Wolfi, the unofficial Avalanche mascot, as a PFP for Avax traders. It comes with a series of unique utilities:

  1. 3rd Party Airdrops
Airdrops have become a common utility for a majority of NFT projects. It is an easy way of redistributing value among a group of holders. This allows the project to continue and evolve without having to run another minting experience, meaning that holders simply have new collections sent directly to their wallet.

Wolfi Land is unique in this sense because they are opening up their airdrops to third parties, allowing holders to receive additional value from other teams’ collections, and projects on the Avax network.

  2. Commercial Rights
The Wolfi Land collection also comes with the commercial rights to the individual token artwork similar to how many other collections such as the Bored Ape Yacht Club and Pudgy Penguins do.

The exciting element here is that Wolfi is a recognised mascot of sports within the Avalanche network, so the character image goes quite far within Avax communities who will be able to recognize him.

  3. Exclusive Merch Store
Additionally, the Wolfi Land team, led by an artist named Mar, has mentioned that an exclusive merch store will be opening up in the near future as part of their roadmap.

Similar to Doodles and the BAYC, merchandise can be quite popular among the top collections on any network because they have the most brand recognition.

  4. Digital Artbook
Lastly, a digital artbook is also in the works for holders to receive. While this has less monetary value than commercial rights do, it still poses as a unique collectible for fans and enthusiasts of the collection to hold because the entire collection has been driven by its art and significance to the Avalanche network.

NFTs on Avalanche

Avalanche has slowly built up its platform for NFTs through the market crash and has remained fairly stable ever since. Joepegs, the primary NFT marketplace on Avax, has hosted a series of collections including Avalanche Party Animals and the Smol Joes collection.

With the introduction of Wolfi Land, activity on the network is beginning to rise up and attract new audiences to their NFTs which are being marketed as faster and more efficient than NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain.

Transition from Ethereum to Avalanche

Moreover, the Avalanche blockchain, while a separate chain, is still compatible with the Ethereum network, making it easy for Ethereum traders to onboard and explore the different NFT collections available to them. Wallets such as MetaMask are capable of providing access to Avalanche by simply adding the network through the wallet’s settings.
