Pudgy Penguins Sends Sotheby's Earnings to Charity

Following their successful auction at Sotheby’s, the Pudgy Penguins community has decided that they will use a portion of the proceeds generated by the sale of Cole’s original penguin (#4609) as a charity donation to Oceanities, a non-profit research program monitoring the Antarctic ocean to celebrate National Penguin Awareness Day. According to an article by Yahoo, the Pudgy Penguin collaboration with Sotheby’s generated about $128,898 in profits.

The announcement is the latest in a string of charitable actions made by various NFT communities that have gone towards helping the real life animals that inspired their collections. At the end of 2023, Yuga Labs made multiple headlines with their charity donations to The Jane Goodall Foundation and the city of Miami.
