SBF Faces Four New Federal Charges
NEW YORK CITY – FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried faces four additional federal charges in a new indictment filed in court on Thursday. SBF is already facing eight counts of fraud and conspiracy culminating from the collapse of FTX in November 2022.
The indictment adds the additional charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud; conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business; conspiracy to commit money laundering; conspiracy to make unlawful political contributions, and defraud the FEC. The FTX founder now faces a total of twelve federal charges.
“Bankman-Frieds fuse of straw donors allowed him to evade contribution limits on individual donations to candidates to whom he had already donated,” prosecutors said in the court filing.
A trial has been scheduled for Oct. 3, 2023.
